Faneuil Adding 35 Local Jobs

Washington Gas (WGL), recently announced that Faneuil has been selected to begin customer care and supporting services for WGL’s utility customers in Virginia, Maryland and the greater District of Columbia area.  Faneuil will staff the operation with more than 200 employees, an estimated 35 new jobs will be based in Martinsville.

Local Entrepreneur Expanding

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Mollies Originals LLC will expand into the Solid Stone Fabrics building on Walker Road, thanks in part to a $36,350 grant from the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp.(EDC).

Local Entrepreneur Wins Under Armour Competition for $50,000 Award

Local entrepreneur Leigh Cockram and her 10-month-old sports apparel company have won Under Armour’s Future Show Innovation Challenge and its $50,000 prize. Cockram and the Collinsville-based RaesWear LLC she started in December won the 2015 Under Armour award with the creation of pouch pants, which incorporate a pocket in workout clothes to hold cell phones, money, keys and more.

State Approves New Enterprise Zone

Thirteen localities statewide applied for five enterprise zone designations up for grabs recently, and Martinsville-Henry County received a new one. On the state level, incentives include job creation and real property investment grants. Incentives at the city and county level include waivers and temporary rebates on certain taxes and fees imposed by the local governments.
