Food-based businesses are an increasingly popular field. However, starting this type of business requires more than a great knack for cooking. Rules and regulations for operating these businesses are very specific and can sometimes seem overwhelming. Knowing what is expected upfront can help avoid pitfalls later.

This workshop will go over their basic requirements that restaurants must adhere to in order to operate, including health department regulations, meals tax and building/food truck inspections.  Speakers include Jessica Phillips (Virginia Department of Health), Alex Beyer (Virginia ABC), Tiffany Hairston (Henry County Revenue Office) and Kris Bridges (Martinsville Building Inspections).
