Airport Receives MACF Grant

Funds from this grant will be used to repave the parking lot, replace awnings on the buildings and install new landscaping around the terminal.

“MACF is pleased to support our local airport in upgrading its facilities. It is one of the greatest economic assets in our community,” said April Haynes, director of Martinsville Area Community Foundation. Funding also was received from the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) for this purpose. “For many visitors our airport is the front door of our community and the first impression many have of Martinsville-Henry County,” said Mark Heath, president and CEO of the EDC.

The airport is home to more than 40 aircraft and more than 12,000 flights are flown annually. Its services are crucial to many local businesses and business prospects. Jason Davis, airport general manager, said, “This grant was a welcomed surprise! It will truly go a long way towards our terminal area renovations that are desperately needed. Our sincere thanks to April, her staff and the generous donor who sees the value in our airport.”
