                     Workshop Planned for Food-Based Business Entrepreneurs
                          ~Regulations of food service industry to be discussed~

Martinsville, VA (August 30, 2013) The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation's Small, Minority & Entrepreneurial Division will be sponsoring a seminar focused on the Rules and Regulations of Operating a Food-Based Business. The event is scheduled for September 12th from 12-1:30PM at the Virginia Museum of Natural History (21 Starling Avenue, Martinsville).

Food-based businesses are an increasingly popular field. However, starting this type of business requires more than a great knack for cooking. Rules and regulations for operating these businesses are very specific and non-negotiable. Knowing the expectations beforehand will help avoid delays and penalties later.

Darrin Doss (Virginia Department of Health) will explain the inspection process for restaurants. Representatives will also be on hand to discuss building/fire marshal inspections (Ted Anderson) and ABC licensure (Jay Engstrom).
