Food-based businesses are an increasingly popular field. However, starting this type of business requires more than a great knack for cooking. Rules and regulations for operating these businesses are very specific and can sometimes seem overwhelming. Knowing what is expected upfront can help avoid pitfalls later.

Darrin Doss (Virginia Department of Health) will go over the inspection process that restaurants must adhere to in order to operate. Representatives will also be on hand to discuss building/fire marshal inspections (Ted Anderson) and ABC licensure (Jay Engstrom).
