Martinsville-Henry County EDC announces new staff

Martinsville, VA (Aug. 16, 2006) – The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is pleased to announce that Valerie Spencer is joining its staff as Administrative Assistant.

Valerie joins the EDC from Piedmont Arts where she was Marketing Assistant since 2005. She has a BA in Human Service Counseling from Old Dominion University and an AAS in Business Administration from Patrick Henry Community College and is a certified bookkeeper.

“Valerie will provide our Marketing, Research and Business Development staff much needed administrative support,” says Mark Heath, President/CEO. “This support is critical as the EDC reaches out to the existing business community and markets our area globally.”
Valerie’s position with the EDC begins September 5, 2006.

The mission of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation is to create new job opportunities and expand the tax base for the area. The organization strives to support and develop local industry, as well as market Martinsville-Henry County globally as an exceptional place to live, work and play.

The EDC is a public-private partnership between the City of Martinsville, Henry County, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce and the Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont.
