Community meeting scheduled to encourage participation in Jamestown 2007 Celebration
Martinsville, VA (May 30, 2006) – The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation’s Office of Tourism along with the Virginia Museum of Natural History encourage everyone interested in learning more about Virginia’s Jamestown 2007 celebration to attend a community meeting on Wednesday, May 31 at 7 PM. The meeting, held at the Virginia Museum of Natural History, will focus on how communities can take part in the program – including using events they already have planned for next year and marketing them under the Jamestown 2007 umbrella.
“Jamestown is a statewide, and national, celebration that comes along every fifty years. It is important that Martinsville and Henry County take advantage of this opportunity to let us showcase and celebrate who we are as part of the Jamestown 2007 festivities. This is a great chance for us to demonstrate how and why we love this place. We are fortunate in that Amy [Ritchie] has agreed to update us on what is going on around the state with respect to Jamestown 2007,” says David Rotenizer, Director of Tourism for the EDC.
Amy Ritchie, Jamestown 2007 Manager of Statewide Programs, will speak and answer questions about the program. The meeting is free to all who attend. A select number of attendees will be presented with commemorative Jamestown 2007 as door prizes.
