Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation Announces Director of Research


Martinsville, VA (May 12, 2006) – The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is pleased to announce that it has hired Spencer Johnson as Director of Research.

Johnson joins the EDC from Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he was employed as an analyst for 7 years. Johnson graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics from Catawba College in 1997 and from Fieldale-Collinsville High School in 1993.

“We are excited to have Spencer join our staff,” says Mark Heath, President/CEO of the EDC. “His planning and analytical skills will raise our marketing efforts to another level by adding a critical element of thorough research.”

“Having been born and raised in Martinsville-Henry County, I am very familiar with the area and the recent hardships that have gripped the local community,” Johnson states. “I want to help place Martinsville back on the map as an exceptional place to live and a region with vibrant economic opportunity.”

Johnson’s position with the EDC begins June 26, 2006.

The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation is the lead economic development agency serving Martinsville and Henry County. The Corporation’s mission is to create new job opportunities and expand the tax base for the area.
