EDC’s Office of Tourism launches redesigned website
~VisitMartinsville.com looks to internal and external audience in highlighting area’s attractions~
Martinsville, VA (Jan. 4, 2007) – The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (M-HCEDC) has launched its new tourism focused website www.VisitMartinsville.com.
The website, launched today, was designed and developed by dot.org Group. dot.org works exclusively with non-profit and government agencies to provide solutions for web and digital image cataloging.
VisitMartinsville.com utilizes a data feed from the state’s tourism website, www.Virginia.org, to highlight items that fall under the following categories: what to do, where to stay, where to eat, events, travel information and general information about the area. The website will serve to inform Martinsville-Henry County residents of opportunities and will be marketed externally to attract tourists to the area.
“We are adding items to the site all the time. Office of Tourism staff is working diligently to ensure that all businesses related to tourism are listed, and will be reaching out to those businesses in the coming weeks,” remarks David Rotenizer, Director of Tourism. “This site elevates our visibility on a national level and we want it to be as inclusive as possible.”
In addition to VisitMartinsville.com, Martinsville-Henry County EDC contracted with dot.org to implement YesMartinsville.com, launched last month with information pertinent to existing Martinsville-Henry County industry as well as prospective companies, and Reel-Scout™, a project and location management application that will allow the M-HCEDC to market Martinsville-Henry county locations to production companies around the world looking for locations for feature films, television series, commercials, etc. The packaging of the two sites and Reel-Scout™ allowed M-HCEDC to partner with one vendor, thus streamlining the development process as well as allowing for focused customer service in the future.
The mission of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation is to create new job opportunities and expand the tax base for the area. The organization strives to support and develop local industry, as well as market Martinsville-Henry County globally as an exceptional place to live, work and play.
The EDC is a public-private partnership between the City of Martinsville, Henry County, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth (C-PEG) and the Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont.
