Martinsville, VA (Dec. 1, 2006) – The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is pleased to announce that Felicia Rupert is joining its staff as Administrative Assistant for Tourism and Film.

Felicia joins the EDC from West Piedmont Business Development Center where she was Administrative Assistant since 2005. She has an Associate Degree in Arts and Sciences and an Associate Degree in Business Management from Patrick Henry Community College.

“Felicia will provide our Office of Tourism much needed administrative support,” says Mark Heath, President/CEO. “In addition, she will work to jumpstart our film recruitment efforts and elevate Martinsville-Henry County’s exposure within that industry, which generated $500 million in the state of Virginia last year.”

Felicia’s position with the EDC begins Thursday, December 14, 2006.

The mission of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation is
to create new job opportunities and expand the tax base for the area.  The organization strives to support and develop local industry, as well as market Martinsville-Henry County globally as an exceptional place to live, work and play.

The EDC is a public-private partnership between the City of Martinsville, Henry County, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth (C-PEG) and the Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont.
