Lampe Appointed Vice Chairman of Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Board
Martinsville, VA (April 14, 2008)
– The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is pleased to announce that at the March board meeting Amy Lampe was elected to fill the vacant Vice Chairman seat. The vacancy was due to Mike Haley’s resignation as a result of out of town business commitments. Haley, who was commended by the board for his service and commitment to the community and EDC, was a Harvest Foundation appointee and a founding member of the Martinsville-Henry County EDC’s board in July 2004.
Lampe, Chief Executive Officer of Tacoma Inc., has been a member of the Martinsville-Henry County EDC board since 2006 when she was appointed by the Chamber of Commerce to fill the seat of Kim Adkins. “Her passion and commitment to this community made her the logical choice for the Vice Chair position,” said Joe Roach, Chairman of the EDC.

The Martinsville-Henry County EDC board now consists of eight members, two from each of the EDC’s funding partners. “It makes sense for all funding partners of the EDC to have two appointees to the board,” explains Roach. Current board members include: Joe Roach (Chairman) and Paul Toms representing the Harvest Foundation, Amy Lampe (Vice Chair) representing the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth, John Parkinson (Treasurer) representing the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, Clarence Monday and Jim Barnett representing the City of Martinsville, and Benny Summerlin (Secretary) and Butch Hamlet (Immediate Past President) representing Henry County.

The mission of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation is to create new job opportunities and expand the tax base for the area. The organization strives to support and develop local industry, as well as market Martinsville-Henry County globally as an exceptional place to live, work and play.

The EDC is a public-private partnership between the City of Martinsville, Henry County, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth (C-PEG) and the Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont.
