Martinsville, VA (January 2, 2008) – The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Leigh Cockram as the Director of Marketing and Recruiting.

Cockram, a native of Henry County, joins the EDC from Commonwealth Laminating and Coating where she was the sales manager for SunTek Direct. Cockram graduated from Fieldale-Collinsville High School in 1998 and from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Arts in Government in May 2002.

“We are pleased to have Leigh become an integral part of our staff,” says Mark Heath, President/CEO of the EDC. “Her knowledge of our community along with her sales and marketing experience make her a great fit to help us take our recruiting efforts to the next level.”

“I look forward to working with the EDC and promoting the positive aspects of Martinsville-Henry County,” says Cockram. “This community has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to share with the world all we have to offer and I look forward to assisting in the growth of Martinsville and Henry County.”

Cockram’s position with the EDC began December 31, 2007.

The EDC is a public-private partnership between the City of Martinsville, Henry County, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth (C-PEG) and the Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont.
