Business office to add jobs

Oct 2, 2007
By BULLETIN STAFF REPORTS. Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County will hold a job fair today to fill eight new positions in its Remote Business Office (RBO).

The job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the RBO on the fourth floor of the BB&T bank building uptown.

Starting pay for the jobs is $8.59 per hour and increases depending on a person’s level of qualified experience, according to a news release.

Details about available jobs were not provided in the release.

“We are expanding because it’s much more cost effective to hire LifePoint people to do the work instead of outsourcing to an outside company,” said Debra Draper, RBO director for LifePoint Hospitals Inc., which owns Memorial.

“No matter how large or small the assignment, we have proven that it’s not only more cost effective, the rate of return is higher than what is gained by using outside companies,” Draper said.

The RBO moved to its current location in 2006 when LifePoint decided to expand its collection efforts in Martinsville, according to Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp. (EDC) officials.

The RBO started off by serving Memorial and handles projects for six LifePoint medical facilities.

Eighteen people work there. “I am pleased that the RBO is continuing to expand,” said Joe Roach, Memorial Hospital CEO.

“The great work that they do is the reason we are able to continue the growth of this operation. It is a reflection of the fine people we currently have there,” said Roach, who also is president of the EDC board.
