Accretive expansion takes shape

Jul 20, 2007
By DREW EARY - Bulletin Staff Writer. Construction of a 10,000-square-foot, air-conditioned addition to Accretive Commerce Solutions’ warehouse in the Patriot Centre industrial park should be complete by the end of the summer, according to a company official.

“We are adding the facility to our Martinsville warehouse as a way of increasing our footprint in the Martinsville community,” said Mick Koster, director of media relations for Accretive Commerce.

Koster said that the new facility is supposed to be completed by the end of the summer, but he was not sure if it will mean new jobs for the area.

“We are certainly looking at the possibility of adding jobs along with our expansion,” he said. “I cannot say if we will or will not, but it is something that we will look at as we continue to evolve. But we hope that it will.”

Accretive Commerce, formerly called NewRoads, is a shipping company based out of Huntersville, N.C. The company provides warehouse facilities for several large companies, including American Eagle Outfitters.

The existing Martinsville facility is already the largest of Accretive’s warehouses, according to Koster. The addition is being made so the company can add more inventory to the Martinsville facility from Godiva Chocolates.

Koster said that the addition will be air-conditioned because it will house chocolates.

“We have signed a contract extending our relationship with Godiva for the next six years, and as part of that agreement, we decided that we would add this addition to Martinsville to better serve Godiva’s needs,” he said.

Accretive previously used a facility in Delaware for Godiva’s products, but Koster said the newer facility will help bring the distribution of the chocolates to a more central location.
